Very skillful in how Jobs face and legs are hidden. Im beginning to think the newspapers are right about his condition.

Also, pretty tasteless to dress the way he does. I'm not a fan of Obama, but if I were to meet him and sit next to him for dinner, I would respect the office enough not no dress in freakin' turtle neck.

    Jobs has ZERO class, none.

I noticed they were all wearing shirts / tops - must be trying to hide some chest condition

The interface is slick, but it is slow as a tortise. Maybe they are still bringing additional servers online, but I hope the speed improves...

[EDIT] Just tried it using Firefox 2.0, and the speed is MUCH faster than on Safari. Interesting...
It runs fine on my machine in Safari. Maybe it's just some startup jitters

why do we (or some of us) want a entire case redesign for MBP... i mean, i can understand the logic behind easily accessible harddrive.. and if i push it, maybe the magnetic latch, but the entire case redesign? what's wrong with the current case? i think most people think the case looks nice...

only the macbook has been redesigned in the intel transition process.. but thats because ibook hasn't gotten a case redesign since ibook g3, no? and plus, it's not even THAT much of a redesign.. and aside from that, mini stayed the same, imac, mac pro all stayed the same (and imac already had a 2nd revision..) i don't see apple redesign it either

I for one hope they redesign the entire case. I dropped my 17" Power Book while it was in my computer bag and caught it by the strap as it hit the floor. I'm not sure if you can picture this, the bag was on my shoulder and slid off and I caught it just as the corner hit. I thought, thank God it was in a computer bag. Well the corner of my computer that it the ground was folded like aluminum foil. I was really surprised that I was able to reshape it back into shape with my hands.

Granted nothing was wrong with the computer, but....

If you want just the email account then yes, .Mac is not worth it. That's the point. .Mac is more than email, and if you want an email address, get Gmail and hook it up into Mail.app....
Are you saying you're happy it costs $99? You don't want to pay less, no? The more complaining and bad feedback we give Apple that this service is simply too expensive the better, and the better chance we have they will begin to pay attention to loads (http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=.Mac%20too%20expensive&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8) of posts/blogs/and stories on this. I feel sick when I have to tell someone how much it costs. I mean they say .Mac syncing is included! You have to pay to sync computers that you payed money for, and worse still you have to give it to the company you bought the computers from?? Give me a break! GMail is free too. iWeb provides little bandwidth, and the whole this is wrapped-up with a tiny storage package. And I don't think the solution is for Apple to give us more storage. I would prefer a cheaper price to more storage any-day. If you want moe storage then you pay $99, otherwise this should cost no more than $49 per year. At the VERY MOST!!

Interesting. I wonder if it's just a warehouse shortage for that area or carrier struggle?

Seems fraud is the reason from what that rep said in the chat. Maybe we have started to solve the mystery to this thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=613734). ;)

If anyone knows of a cheaper price then around 160 in the UK let me know cause that's the best I've found.

But is the iPad the "recommended" purchase?

The iPhone was also their highest rated smart phone and yet not recommended.

Nice of CR to pick the #1 selling tablet by a million miles over the competitors, but I still have little respect for them and take it with a grain of salt.

Before all you Apple fannies disagree with this; just remember Apple is trying to sue everyone else too.

    It's all ridiculous.

That's rather a sweeping generalization, isn't it? Sure, many lawsuits over patents are silly but does that mean we should discount the legitimate ones?

Amen. Some people here act like Kodak has no right to sue. Egads! Apple does it all the time also.

I don't see a single person on this thread so far saying Kodak has no right to sue, and yet you're third person now to claim people on this site are going to react that way. Where I'm from, that's called a strawman argument and just a thinly veiled way to insult people.

Great take on the topic. I like the way color and facial expressions make the incoming player stand out from his team mates. All of the Rugby shots you have posted in the forums show how wimpy American "football" players are.

Why don't you guys just answer the question -- it's pretty simple. I have to use a PC at work and I keep an old one around for some text-based sports games not available on the Mac. But I prefer Mac because:

    1) There's nothing in the PC market remotely similar to my 17" widescreen iMac. If you haven't used one, you can't appreciate it's incredible design and beauty.

    2) I don't have to pay extra for basic software required to do most of what I do on a computer -- iTunes, iPhoto, iDVD, etc., all free with Mac OS-X. The Windows equivalents are awful.

    3) My Mac crashes very rarely, every PC I've ever used crashes at least once a week and requires a new installation of the OS every six months or so just to clean up the garbage.

    4) With a Mac, I don't have to download and install a new patch from MS every few days to close a security vulnerability.

    5) Add something to a Mac and you know it will work without having to hunt down drivers.

    6) When you own a Mac, you feel like you're carrying a great set of golf clubs around a Country Club, not lugging a toolbox in a dark basement. The Mac community is probably the strongest argument in favor of its continued, unlikely survival.

Apple has finally updated their .Mac Webmail (http://www.mac.com/1/webmail.html) interface:

Introducing the next generation of webmail. With its smart use of the latest web technology, the new .Mac webmail will remind you of the Mail application on your desktop. You'll feel right at home with its simple and elegant interface, drag-and-drop capability, built in Address Book, and more

A sneak peak (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/09/20060926212708.shtml) of the updated .Mac Webmail was originally posted in September.

The new .Mac Webmail provides a similar look and feel to Mac OS X's Mail application, and utilizes the latest web technologies to provide a more seamless experience. .Mac (http://www.mac.com/1/currencytable.html) is a pay service provided by Apple. The basic package starts at (http://www.mac.com/1/currencytable.html) $99.95 (US) per year for 1GB of .Mac Mail and iDisk storage.

    1. Real men ride Harleys.

And Mac users consider themselves as computer savy, LOL! They prefer a simple OS that a monkey could use. Now that's savy.

If a person is looking for the best overall experience, even if they lack technical skills, if not luck, it could be a very savvy decision. :)

    *sigh* Okay I give up.

I don't think you are fearful and defensive. :)

the iPad will be for normal people when you don't have the sync it.

all this syncing ********* needs to stop.

I shouldn't need another computer to use my iPad.

    Makes no sense at all.
This is the primary design flaw with the iPad. This tablet can't be the normal person's computer unless every normal person has a tech friend/relative to keep the tablet working/updated. So while Woz is correct that the tablet will be the normal person's computer, Apple's iPad is not yet that tablet.

I hope they use the USB flash drive option (like they do with the MacBook Air); then enable some way where we can update the OS install on the flash drive with newer 10.7.x releases, so down the road when we reinstall our machines we don't need to go through the process of having to redownload every update since our install version.

Plus the USB drive option would work well with folks have don't have an optical drive in their machines.

And I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for the USB drive option.

    Apr 12, 04:38 PM
It does. You need to go into Tools --> Synch Services and enable calendar sync. I then restarted Outlook and iTunes, synced my iPhone (Info --> Advanced --> Replace info on this iPhone) and everything was there when I went into the calendar.

EDIT: It also keeps the category colours from Outlook which is awesome, as Entourage never managed to do this.

Well, I just recently switched from Windows to Mac OS X. In Windows, one is able to sync Outlook through iTunes with the iPhone. But in OS X, iTunes shows only the sync options with iCal and Address Book contacts, nothing from Outlook. I'm probably missing something here and would appreciate some enlightenment. Thanks to anyone in advance!
